It's
true that best friends make the best marriage partners. On June 7,
2008 Fred and Sally were married on the Tom Sawyer riverboat in the shadow
of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri. It was a joyous time of celebration
with family and friends. In addition to their innkeeping duties at The White
House on Park Avenue, Fred and Sally Berger are both professors at nearby
Saint Joseph's College. Fred is beginning his 34nd year at SJC, and holds the title of Associate Professor of Communication. His degrees are from Purdue University, and he grew up in Pulaski County, just to the east of Rensselaer. He has worked extensively in radio, most notably as a play-by-play announcer for various Indiana radio stations over the past 30 years. His hobbies include Hollywood history, canoeing and kayaking, camping, and baseball. He has traveled extensively leading work trips with Habitat for Humanity including Tanzania, Chile, Guatemala, and in May, Fred led a work trip to Macedonia. Sally is a native of Oklahoma, where she was a television news producer in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. She began teaching at Northern Oklahoma College, and received her degrees from Oklahoma State University. Sally has been at SJC for 12 years, as the faculty advisor to the campus radio station at Saint Joseph's, and also teaches private flute and piano lessons. On Sundays she can be found at the Brook United Methodist Church, where she is the church organist. Sally likes cooking, camping, canoeing, travel and spending time with her family. |
